Obituary

Donald died Sunday, January 22, 2006, peacefully while in the loving arms of his daughter, Janice, after a prolonged battle with cancer involving complications.

Don was a self made man who loved people. He leaves a legacy to his children and friends of hard work, honesty and integrity. You could always count on him to speak his mind.

Don was born in Detroit, served as a Marine in the Korean Conflict, and spent his entire career working his way through the Display and Exhibit Industry. After starting at George P. Johnson Co., he spent the majority of his tenure with H. B. Stubbs in Warren, MI.

He loved the auto industry and took great pride in working with his clients, particularly selling and designing auto show displays for Cadillac and Buick.

Don loved golf, cards, vacations, movies and current events. For the past 10 years he spent his time in Bloomfield Hills, MI and Naples, FL. He was an active member at Pine Lake Country Club and Lely Resort & Golf Club. He will be deeply missed by his friends from business and the golf course.

He always lived his life “wanting better” for his children.

Son of the late Samuel and Irene. Brother of David (MaryAnne) and the late Robert (Alleene). Former husband of the late Evelyn. Father of Janice Burke (Gerry), Jeffrey (Heather), Amy Russell (Matt), and the late Michael (Deb). Grandfather “Papa” to Lexi, Chase, Max, Jack, Brennan, Katie, Allie, Jase, Emily, Hailey, Mia and Charlie.

Family will receive friends at A. J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward (btwn 13-14 Mile) Friday 4-8pm.

Memorial service Saturday 1pm at First United Methodist Church, 1589 W. Maple Rd., Birmingham.
