Obituary

Eileen Annette Mason Wilhelm, age 67, passed away on April 16, 2019.

Eileen was born in Muskegon, Michigan on October 21, 1951 to the late Robert and Kathleen (Carr) Mason.

She was preceded in death by her loving sister, Marcia (Mason) Dwyer and stepmother Carol Mason.

Eileen was among the first class of female graduates of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, where she met her beloved husband, the late Thomas Vincent Wilhelm, whom she married in 1974.

In her career, she was most passionate about helping others, particularly children, and was dedicated to the Variety Children’s Charity of Detroit and Variety Myoelectric Center. Eileen was a forceful advocate for those in need and also a well-regarded executive at Detroit Medical Center until her retirement in 2003.

Eileen was cherished by all who knew her for her sharp intellect and quick wit; she was beloved for her listening ear, sage advice, and kind spirit. Eileen loved traveling overseas with her family, and experiencing diverse cultures.
Most of all, Eileen loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Katie (Wilhelm) Groves, Colin Wilhelm, daughter-in-law Erin (Richards) Wilhelm, son-in-law Chad Groves, and grandchildren, Ethan and Andrew Groves.

Eileen is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will he held on Monday, April 22 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at AJ Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd, Troy MI 48084.
