Obituary

Elaine “Elena” Helen Houlihan, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 17, 2020, at her home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Born in Cortland, New York on October 24, 1939, she was the daughter of Robert Emmett and Helen (Corsi) Houlihan. Elaine was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School (1957) and earned her BA at SUNY Binghamton (Harpur College, 1979). She was employed at Eastman Kodak Company for 16 years and thereafter owned & operated a gourmet food manufacturing company, Houlihan’s Culinary Traditions, Ltd., for 26 years.

Elaine enjoyed gourmet cooking and home decorating & entertaining. She was a beautiful pianist and masterful gardener. She thrived on the casino arts and was a huge Notre Dame fan.

Elaine is survived by her 5 children, Kathleen Houlihan Collins-Schroll (Mark), Patricia Elaine Collins (Michele Strelec), Jill Houlihan Karana (Eddie), Caroline Robin Moose (“Moose”) and John Houlihan Collins (Celyn). She is the proud grandmother of John Michael, Joshua, Joseph (Jessica), Alyssa, Peyton, Kristen, Camden, Grace, Teagan, Nicholas, Jacob and Johnna, and great-grandmother of Shane and Maizy. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald John Houlihan and predeceased by her brother, Robert Emmett Houlihan.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a date to be scheduled.
