Obituary

Emmanuel Papadogiannis passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours on February 8, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan . He is survived by his two sons, Joe (the late Angela) and Anthony (the late Kyrana), and four grandchildren, Emmanuel, Konstantina, Maria, and Emmanuel.

Emmanuel was born in Vamos, Chania, Crete in 1927, and grew up up during World War II. He was one of nine children to his parents Sifi and Chrisoula. In the early 1950's, he met and married his wife, the late Maria, and they began their family of four. Emmanuel worked as a leather tanner until he and his family came to the United States in 1968. After living in Detroit for two years, they moved to Royal Oak.

Emmanuel worked for Ford Motor Company for 24 years, where he worked on assembly and as a hi-lo driver. He loved his work and never missed a day in his career. He was a member at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church where he spent much of his time with friends and family.

Visitation will be Monday, February 11, at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd (between Maple and Big Beaver), Troy from 2 pm - 8 pm, Trisaigon Service at 7 pm. Funeral Service on Tuesday, February 12, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 760 W. Wattles Rd (near Crooks), Troy, visitation at 9:30 am followed by the service at 10 am. Burial will be at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial tributes to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
