Eugene (Gene) Clifford Weise passed peacefully in Troy on July 10, 2019. He was born on July 15, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to Gertrude and Clifford Weise. He graduated from Detroit Southeastern High School in 1950, and enlisted in the Army shortly thereafter. He met his sweet Irish girl, Agnes, at a dance in Detroit and married her on January 30, 1959. She was the love of his life for over 60 years. He went on to enjoy a long career in the automotive industry, retiring from the General Motors Design Staff.
Gene is survived by his wife, Agnes, his daughters Patti (Lonnie) Mitchell, Kathleen Schultz, Melissa (Joseph) VanDerZanden, his son, Lawrence Weise, grandson Nathan (Dominique) Weise, and great-granddaughter, Scarlett. Dear brother of Delores (Marvin) Oswald and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Gene lived and breathed his work at General Motors. He embraced his later years, continuing his membership in the Hudson H-E-T Club, owning and driving vintage Hudson cars. Gene and Agnes were active in harmonica and Bonsai clubs, participating in many performances and events. He enthusiastically followed the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Michigan football. Gene was a history buff, regaling his children with stories of WW2, using the world map to point out where the battles took place. He was an avid coin collector, loved his backyard in Troy, and caring for his Bonsai and Japanese maple trees. Gene loved his pets, speaking often and fondly of his boyhood dog, Skippy and later, of his cat Callie.

Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 2, 9:30a.m. at St. Anastasia Roman Catholic Church, 4571 John R Rd., Troy, MI 48085. Visitation at church begins 9:00a.m.
