Obituary

Marian was born on February 28, 1925 in Redford Township to the late Gilbert and Edna Hart, and died on May 12, 2009, at Cherrywood Nursing and Living Center, in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

She graduated from Southwestern High School in Detroit in 1943.

Marian worked for 17 years in the counseling department at South Lake High School in St. Clair Shores. She calculated each senior student's grade point average by hand, never using a calculator. She loved her job, but her first priority was spent at home raising her family.

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was an adoring grandma who was always there for them. She would attend all their activities, whether it was baseball or soccer games, band concerts or piano recitals. She was always positive and cheered on her grandkids.

In her leisure time, Marian enjoyed gardening. Her flower beds were meticulously maintained and featured beautiful rose bushes. She also loved to bake. She was known for her apple pie, pineapple upside-down cake and many types of Christmas cookies. In her youth, she enjoyed tap dancing and playing the piano. Marian was a very talented and intelligent woman who never sought the spotlight. She was always thinking of others. She rarely missed the opportunity to send a card to friends and relatives for special occasions.

Marian also loved church. She was a former member of Grosse Pointe Baptist where she was church librarian, Evanswood Church of God in Troy, and the Troy Christian Chapel. She was a sweet, kind-hearted woman whose smile and soft-spoken words will be greatly missed.
