Obituary

Our precious mother, Genevieve (Ellis) (Pfeuffer) Gross, age 97, passed peacefully on February 14, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Genevieve, the beloved daughter of Lewis W. and Maude (Sweet) Ellis, born April 9, 1922, in East Jordan, Michigan.

Genevieve was the loving mother of her three children with the late Henry Pfeuffer- Richard Pfeuffer (Pam), Janet (Pfeuffer) Small (Mark), and James Pfeuffer. She was the stepmother to the three children of her late husband, Eugene R. Gross- Kathleen (Gross) Hamby (John), Robert Gross (the late Karen), and Michael Gross (Sandra).

She was the dear sister of the late Walter Ellis (the late Kate)(Lois), and the late William Ellis (the late Ruth).

She was the proud grandmother of 9, great-grandmother of 16, and great-great grandmother of 2. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Genevieve's passions were writing in her diaries every day, genealogy (self-published family histories of her mother's and father's families), playing bridge often, and, most of all, her children. She was a strong, sweet, giving, loving and loyal woman. She loved the beauty of the outdoors, and never saw a flower she didn't love. She enjoyed watching football and politics, shopping, spending time with her children and their families, and chatting with friends and neighbors. She was always ready to help anyone in need. She was also an expressive writer and thinker, and she could easily convey her thoughts in writing or verbally. She was a precious gift to her children.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 26, 2020, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a service at 7 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd, Troy, Michigan (btw Maple and Big Beaver). 248-362-2500.

Donations to the Alzheimer's Association- Greater Michigan Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Rd, #100, Southfield, MI 48033 (800-272-3900), will be appreciated.

Private burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Waterford Township.
