Obituary

Gertrude Elizabeth Harrah went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2019, at the age of 92. Gertrude was born on August 27, 1926 to William and Mamie White in Clay County, West Virginia. She was the oldest of 5 siblings; Maxine, Ernest, Joe and Mae. For the past 75 plus years, Gertrude has been a resident of Metro Detroit.

In her spare time, Gertrude could be found tending to her garden, cooking for her family, and spoiling her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

Gertrude was the loving wife of the late Charles Hawkins and the late Cecil Harrah. Beloved Mother of Alan Harrah (Jen) and the late Chuck Hawkins (Kay). Cherished grandmother of Sue Frecker (Steve), Debbie Cesarek (Bryan), Abbey Harrah, Jon Harrah and Josh Harrah. Devoted great grandmother of Nicholas Frecker, Brittany Busse (Andrew), Ashleigh Frecker, Jordan Cesarek, Kylie Cesarek and Dawson Cesarek.

Family will receive friends from 3-8pm on Monday, April 22, A.J. Desmond and Sons Price Chapel, 3725 Rochester Rd., Troy (between Big Beaver and Wattles). A Celebration of Gertrude’s Life will be held at 11am on Tuesday, April 24, at the Funeral Home. Visitation on Tuesday will begin at 10am.

Contributions to Gertrude’s family may be made by sending a flower tribute or donating to the Alzheimers Association https://www.alz.org.
