Obituary

Hazel Oades, beloved wife of the late Paul, passed away peacefully on February, 21, 2020.

Hazel was born in Farmington, IL to the late Palmira and Alfred Vignali. She was the youngest of four sisters and was preceded in death by Helen (John) Szymanski, Ann Vignali, and Armeda (John) Dee.

She is survived by nine nieces and nephews and many great (and great - great) nieces and nephews.

Hazel was raised in Farmington, IL until the age of 15 when she and her mother (her father died when she was 2) moved to Detroit to follow family already living here. Hazel graduated from Eastern High School in 1947. She had an aptitude for numbers and joined the Doyle & Litt Accounting Agency. She stayed for 30+ years.

Hazel married Paul in 1964 and their love of golf and travel took them on many adventures. After Paul’s death, Hazel continued to enjoy being with family, playing bridge, and having lunch with her friends. She especially loved time with her adopted cat, Lacey.

Her family will greet friends prior to the Funeral Mass Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Christ, Our Light! Catholic Church, 3077 Glouchester Dr., Troy. Visitation at church begins at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207 or to The Solanus Casey Center, 1780 Mt. Elliot, Detroit, MI 48207.
