Obituary

Isabel Abelgas, January 21, 2020, age 96.

Our beloved mother Isabel met our father Eduardo while they were neighbors in the community of San Nicolas in Cebu City, Philippines. Mama Abet was the eldest in her family with brother Cesar and Margarito, both deceased.
She graduated from the University of Philippines Manila with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Papa Doring graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology Manila with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. They married after college on June 25, 1950.

Mama taught Biology at Cebu Institute of Technology High School and later second grade at San Nicolas Elementary School until her retirement in 1984. They migrated to the United States that same year and became active members of Prince of Peace Parish Church in West Bloomfield, Michigan. They were very supportive of their children and grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Mama Abet exemplified a deep faith and love of God and dedication to her family.

Beloved wife of the late Eduardo for 60 years. Dear mother of Arabella Buot (Leo), Lorena Carcedo (the late Benjamin), Alcesa Backos, M.D. (Eric, M.D.), Farida Cipres (Raymond), Gizela Abelgas. Ildebrando John Abelgas (Mary Ann), and the late Laredo Abelgas. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
