Obituary

Jean-Anne Baker, 69, of Troy, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2019.

She was born to parents Ralph and Joan Marotta on November 1, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York. Jean-Anne graduated from West Islip High School in 1967 and received her Bachelor of Arts from Ladycliff College in 1971. She married her loving husband, Gene, also in 1971. They lived in Germany, Oklahoma, and Canton, Michigan before settling and making their forever home in Troy.

She is survived by her husband of 48 wonderful years, Gene, her son, Brent Baker (Michelle), and daughter, Meredith Burtch (Vince). She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Molloy (Bill), brother, Doug Marotta (Suli), and sister-in-law, Lori Marotta. Jean-Anne was the most amazing grandmother to Aidan, Jacob, Ellie, Branden, and Nicholas. She also was a doting aunt who loved her nieces and nephew tremendously; Jennifer, Bradley, Allison, Stephanie, and Sarah, along with their spouses and children.

Jean-Anne enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and relaxing during the summer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. If she had her toes in the sand, she was happy.

She had a dazzling smile, the kindest of hearts, and a sparkle in her eye that everyone loved. Jean-Anne will be missed deeply by all. She lived her life to the fullest and always lived by the motto: Other things may change us, but we start and end with family.
