Obituary

Joan Adams passed away on May 3, 2017 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Frederic R. Adams. Loving mother of Charles (Maureen), Rico (Debbie), and Cherisse Baetz (Ken). Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey (Katie) and Timothy Baetz (Kelly) & Justin (Abby), Michelle (Michelle), Allison and Patrick Adams. Dear great-grandmother of Abbey & Andrew Baetz and Josh & Bea Adams. Sister of Michael and the late Dodi.

Joan was born in Reading, England to Charles and Jessie. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of British Empire. Joan enjoyed traveling Europe, Italy being one of her favorite trips. She also spoke German quite well, as she lived in Germany for several years during her husband's time there serving in the military.

Joan later worked as a legal secretary and developed excellent typing skills. However, taking care of her family, as a loving mother and grandmother does, was her favorite job. Joan had many talents, including gourmet cooking, gardening, sewing, and being a generally handy person. Joan was fond of traveling back to England for visits. In her later years she liked to enjoy a good Louisiana crab boil when spending time there with family. Joan is remembered as a loving and strong woman, who could do just about anything.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1800 W. Maple Rd., Birmingham.
