John was a resident of Royal Oak since 1953.
He spent 45 years in the automotive field working in executive management positions at both Ford Motor Company and American Motors.
John was well respected in the community and devoted his life to his Church, family, profession and philanthropic efforts. He was a member of the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and the St. Laba Society of Hasroun. He was also active on the building and landscape committee for St. Maron and St. Sharble Churches and served as President of the Parish Council and Advisory Board for many years. He volunteered for 20 years as the Chairman of the United Christian Lebanese Association Scholarship Committee (also known as the ‘Jim Tamer Scholarship Fund’) assisting many students through college.
Beloved husband of the late Eva J. for 60 years. Proud father of Yvonne M. Williams (Reg), Rosanne M. Kenny (Patrick), Joanne M. Vader (Herb), Georgette M. Hogan (James) and Therese M. Abdoo. Loving grandfather of John, James (Katherine), Elizabeth, Erika, Christina, Natalie and Brandon. Dear brother of the late Samiey Aretha, Mary S., Chorbishop Michael Abdoo, Rose S., Peter P., Helen T. and Anne M. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave. (btwn 13-14 Mile), Thursday, 2-8p.m. Prayer service 7p.m.
Funeral Mass Friday 10a.m. at St. Sharbel Church, 31601 Schoenherr (btwn 13-14 Mile), Warren. Visitation begins at the church at 9:30am.
