Obituary

JULIE M. CONNOLLY - LOVING WIFE AND FRIEND

Julie M. Connolly, of Bloomfield Hills, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Julie was cherished by all who knew her. She had a delightful laugh, a wonderful sense of humor, and a generous heart.

Born Julie M. O’Keefe on March 15, 1939 in Port Talbot, Wales, she spent the majority of her 80 years with her husband and best companion, Nicholas (Nik) Connolly. Julie and Nik were married in Port Talbot on September 10, 1959. Their early years were spent in a number of locations in England, after which they moved temporarily to the U.S., and then to Tokyo for two years, before settling in Michigan during Christmas of 1979.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Kathleen O’Keefe, in Wales. Julie is survived by her husband, Nik Connolly, and cousins Catherine Heard, Mike O’Leary Johns, Siobhan O’Leary Johns, and Monica Ronan, of Wales; Patricia Koelle, of Canada; Elizabeth Fattahipour and Mitra Fattahipour, of California; Tom Waters, of Ohio; and sister-in-law, Mary Colgan, of Ireland.

Julie and Nik enjoyed many special friends and neighbors in Ireland, England, Tokyo, Toronto, Bloomfield, Troy, and Manistee.

The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland for their care and kindness during Julie’s hospitalization. Julie touched the hearts of everyone she met in all of the places she lived and traveled. She will be greatly missed.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 4 from 4-8 PM at A.J. Desmond and Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd.(between Maple and Big Beaver Rds) Troy.

Funeral Mass Thursday, March 5 at 11:00 AM at St Hugo of the Hills Stone Chapel, 2215 Opdyke Rd, Bloomfield Hills. Visitation at church begins at 10:30 AM.
