Obituary

Lawrence “Ted” Halsey passed away on January 2, 2020 at the age of 92. Ted was a resident of Troy since 1948 and was a retired Troy Police Officer. He also was a volunteer Firefighter at Station 1 and served on the Troy Traffic Committee for 30 years. The quality of life that the City of Troy offers is a result of hard work, planning, sacrifice, and leadership. Ted’s being one of Troy’s dedicated volunteers, helped to keep the quality services that the city offers and they are key to making Troy the greatest place to live in the State of Michigan.

Ted loved people, nature, farming and traveling, but he especially enjoyed going up to Sault Ste. Marie to camp and watch his beloved freighters go by. But, nothing else surpassed the love Ted had for his family.

Beloved husband of the late Lorraine for 53 years and dearest companion of Gladys Emery for 16 years. Loving father of Susan Foster (John) and the late Mark Halsey (Debbie). Cherished grandpa of Nathan Foster (Jaclyn) and Jill Lenaway (Garry). Devoted great grandfather of Aidan Lenaway, Brennan Lenaway, Averie Foster, and Augustin Foster. Brother of the late Norman Halsey and the late Margaret Ryan.

Ted’s funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at A.J. Desmond and Sons Price Chapel, 3725 Rochester Rd., Troy (between Big Beaver and Wattles). Ted’s family will receive friends from 3-8pm with a Firefighters memorial service at 7:00 PM on Monday January 6, and on Tuesday January 7, from 10:30am until the time of service in the Funeral Home. Ted’s family prefers memorial tributes to Troy Firefighters Community Fund, 500 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy, MI, for the Firefighters Memorial at Firefighters Park.
