Louis Paul Zetye was born on November 18, 1927 in Highland Park, Michigan. His parents were Paul Julius and Margaret (nee Churilla) Zetye, Sr. and they were of Hungarian descent. He died on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Evergreen Health and Living Center in Southfield, Michigan. Louis was 89 years of age.
Over the years, his family and friends would
give Louis the nickname of "Uncle Lou"
Lou was a lifelong resident of Suburban Detroit. He graduated from Highland Park High School where at one time he was a finalist in a spelling bee contest. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during world War II. He attended Highland Park Junior College. He was a Design Engineer for General Motors and retired in 1988 after 41 years. His assisted on the designs that included the Z28, the Caprice and the Cadillac logo. After retirement, he was a design engineer for Autostyle, a company that specialized in automotive design and aftermarket auto parts. He was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Southfield, MI. He was an avid collector and enjoyed the violin, reading, crossword puzzles, travel and the Detroit Tigers.
Lou is the beloved husband of Margaret "Peg" (nee Rutz) Zetye and they were married for 63 years. Dear father of Douglas C. Zetye and David L. Zetye (Laurie). Grandfather of Sarah and Shauna. Brother of Eleanor Hanson (the late Rodney), Paul J. Zetye and the late Walter, Robert and Carl. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00pm and Thursday, December 15, 2016 after 10:00am until funeral service 11:00am at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, MI 48073.
