Obituary

Margaret Ann "Marge" McMullen

The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-8 p.m. with Rosary 6 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd. (Between Maple and Big Beaver), 248-362-2500. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday 11 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4580 N. Adams Rd., Troy. Visitation at church begins at 10:30 a.m.

Margaret "Marge" McMullen, Age 89, Beloved wife of the late William “Bill.” Dear mother of Mary Ann Bianchette (Dave) and Nancy Fisher (Fred). Cherished grandmother of Mike Bianchette (Colleen) and Samantha Fisher. Dear great-grandmother of Gianni and Giuliana Bianchette. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marge passed away peacefully, August 5, 2019. She was born on March 12, 1930 in Detroit to her parents, John and Louise O'Dwyer (Dickson). Marge grew up on the east side of Detroit, attended and graduated from St. Martin of Tours High School. After graduation, she worked for several years at Chrysler Corporation in the International Dept. Margaret met and later married the love of her life, William "Bill" McMullen at St. Martin Catholic Church in Detroit, and were married for 63 years. They made their home in Southfield, MI for over 50 years and were long-time active members at St. Bede and St. Ives Catholic parishes. Their home was an open and inviting place where she and Bill would entertain with family, as well as a good Manhattan. Marge later worked outside the home where she met co-workers that became long-time friends. An avid gardener, she could be found tending to her flowers and helping keep their yard looking nice while husband Bill tended the grass and his vegetable garden. Marge adored their grandchildren and liked to play cards and watch the Detroit Red Wings, Pistons and Tigers. She enjoyed family trips Up North as well, and later with friends to try their luck at the casino. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott St., Detroit, MI 48207. https://www.cskdetroit.org/online-donations.

Welcome to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen Web Site Welcome to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, a ministry of the Capuchin Province of St Joseph. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, we tend to people’s basic needs, especially the need for food. We also stimulate minds, nourish spirits, and attempt to address root causes of social injustice. Founded in 1929 by Capuchin friars Solanus Casey and Herman Buss, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen serves the people of metro Detroit. We welcome you…whether you are a guest in need of a hand up, a volunteer willing to assist, or a donor willing to support. Welcome to our ministry.
