Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” Magrath Gray, 82, and beloved wife of the late George J. Gray, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

Peggy was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 3, 1938 to the late Alfred and Margaret Lanigan. After receiving a Catholic education, she received her undergrad from Mary Grove College before completing her Master’s degree at Wayne State University. She taught in the art department in the Detroit school system until it was time to raise a family. She later served on the school board in Hartland, Michigan as well as serving on the Brighton Township Planning Commission.

When she wasn’t spending time with family, Peggy kept in touch with many friends including a couple lifelong dear friends, Camillia Brennan and Alice Wilke. She was an avid Detroit sports fan, always making sure she had the Red Wings or the Tigers game on so she could hear the action. In her free time she enjoyed golf, playing cards, and just having fun. She had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and was very intelligent. She and her husband, George J., spent their later years together in Tennessee with friends. George passed away in 2007. Peggy later enjoyed her time in the community at Henry Ford Village where she was grateful to make many friends.

Loving mother of George Gray (Ann), Mary Gray, Deborah Peltier (Jerry), and Douglas Gray (Wendy). Proud grandmother of Corey Peltier, Jeff Peltier, Emily Peltier, Evelyn Gray, Owen Gray, Eliza Gray, and Liam Gray. Dear sister of Mairin Foley (William). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 280 E. Square Lake Rd, Troy, MI 48085. Visitation begins at the church at 9:30AM.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to please consider a donation to the church in Peggy’s memory.
