Obituary

Mary Handerson was born in Cleveland Ohio on Feb.22,1928. She lived in three cities in Ohio before moving to Birmingham, Michigan in 1940. Mary lived on Grosse Isle from 1942 to 1945 during which time her parents were the directors of the Grosse Isle USO. She graduated from Grosse Isle High in June 1945.

Mary attended Western Reserve University in Cleveland and later the Detroit Commercial College. Mary worked for a pediatrician and several businesses before joining Packard Electric Division of General Motors. She retired after 30 years of service to GM.

Mary played golf in two leagues and was president of one. She was also an avid card player, enjoying bridge, euchre and cribbage.

Most recently Mary was the Queen of the Rosy Chicks Red Hat Society.

Mary is survived by her brother Philip Handerson, (Ann Nyre) of Warren Ohio as well as her friends, Martha Sullivan Weber (Christopher) & family, Jennifer Pariseau DiMaggio, Jeanine DeCastro Girvin and George Kravolich.

Family will receive friends on Monday, February 24 from 2 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 6 p.m. at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd (between Maple and Big Beaver Rds) Troy.
