Obituary

Ronald Robert Brodie, 67, beloved husband of Susan for over 40 years, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 surrounded by his family.

A soft spoken, talented man, Ronn had a love of building things and architecture. He had a keen eye for where things belong and had incredible vision to see the finished product long before completion. His creative and artistic skills served him well as he built his own business, The Brodie Company. As his daughter Ally said, “At our house in Minnesota, and I know at Ian’s house in Maine, we are surrounded by projects that my dad did for us. There is not a room in our house that wasn’t touched by my dad. We miss him every day. He was the best man we know.”

Ronn was born in Pontiac, Michigan on March 30, 1951 to the late Robert and Ruth Brodie. He was a 1969 graduate of Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan. While in high school, Ronn was a standout wrestler. Something he has been able to continue enjoying through his son, son-in-law and now two grandsons. He attended Western Michigan University before completing his bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University. He married the love of his life, Susan Watson on February 24, 1978. The two of them raised two children and were blessed with six grandchildren.

He was a man who had many lifelong friends going back to elementary school. His kindness and generosity were felt by all, especially his grandchildren. He loved to greet his grandchildren as the Great Rondini showing them incredible magic tricks. He was so proud to be a grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who crossed his path.

Beloved husband of Susan. Loving father of Ally Lawrence (Jared) and Ian Brodie (Kate). Proud grandfather of Rylee Lawrence, Brodie Lawrence, Chase Lawrence, Julian Brodie, Ander Brodie, Reed Brodie. Dear brother of Carole Glaza (Doug), Tom Brodie (Maureen), the late Sharon Englehardt and many nieces and nephews and their families.

A celebration gathering will be held Saturday, February 23rd for family and friends from 2pm-6pm. Contact family for further information.

In lieu of flowers, donations will support the Rogel Cancer Center Esophageal Cancer Program at the University of Michigan. Checks may be made to “University of Michigan” and sent to the Michigan Medicine Office of Development, 1000 Oakbrook Dr., Suite 100, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. You may also call 734-764-6777 or visit the website https://victors.us/ronnbrodie to make your gift.

~Lovingly written by the family.
