Shirley passed away on Sunday, February 16, two days after her favorite holiday, Valentines Day. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Ron. Shirley was a longtime resident of Troy before recently moving to Rochester Hills. A loving mother of 3, Ronda Klausmeier (Howard), Richard (Tina) and Susan Swerc (Thomas). Beloved grandmother of Justin (Stephanie), Joey, Joshua, Jacob, Ryan, Samantha, Allison, Emily, Benjamin, the late Kelsey and great grandmother of Jack.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with people. She was very social, having a great sense of humor people were drawn to her. She loved her Schnauzers especially going for walks with them. She enjoyed knitting, drawing, singing to herself, baking banana cakes and spending time up north at her cottage in Harrisville. More than anything however, she loved her family, being a loving wife and a doting mother, grandmother and great grandmother!

Visitation will take place Wednesday from 2-8 PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons, 2600 Crooks Rd., Troy (between Maple and Big Beaver Rds.). Funeral service will begin at 11 AM on Thursday at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 5631 N. Adams Rd., Bloomfield Hills. Visitation at church begins at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family requests that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
