Zembrzuski, Sophia (Golda) Born February 12, 1930 d. February 21, 2020
Sophia entered into eternal life on February 21, 2020. She is now together with her loving husband, Zinon, many relatives and friends. Sophia was born in Pennsylvania; the daughter of Polish immigrants. At the age of 10 following the death of her father, her family moved to the east side of Detroit.
Sophia was a devoted and loving wife to Zinon for over 69 years of marriage. She was the dedicated mother of: Michael, Susan Roginski (Edward, d), Dennis (Cynthia), and Lori Ann Urbaniak (Richard). Sophia is survived by her 7 grandchildren: Stephanie (Dan) Dolan, Nicholas Zembrzuski, Edward Roginski, Michael Zembrzuski, Brett Roginski, Nicole Urbaniak, and Rachel Urbaniak. She loved her two great grandchildren: Daniel and Wyatt. Sophie is survived by her oldest sister’ Lillian. To her many nieces and nephews, she was known affectionately known as Aunt Sophie.
Sophie graduated from Pershing High School and worked for Sander’s. At the age of 19, she married the love of her life; Zinon. Sophie was a devoted house wife and mother. She dedicated her life to being the best mom she could be to her four children and grandma to her grandchildren. Sophie loved to sew which was demonstrated in the numerous dresses she created. Sophie recounted how difficult life was during the depression and never took anything for granted. She had a deep faith in our Lord and that faith inspired her courage to face all the challenges life presented. Her love and devotion for Mary never ceased. Sophie always made time for her children and imparted her wisdom to her family. She lived a humble life always thankful for the gifts God gave to her.
Family will receive friends from 2-8pm with Rosary at 7pm on Thursday, February 27, at A.J. Desmond and Sons Price Chapel, 3725 Rochester Rd., Troy (between Big Beaver and Wattles). 248-689-0700. Funeral Mass at 9:30am on Friday, February 28, at St. Rene Goupil Parish, 35955 Ryan Rd., Sterling Heights. Visitation at church begins at 9:00am.
