Obituary

Susan Schubering Flynn-ageless

Susan passed away on December 26, 2019. Surrounded by the love of her family. She was raised in Akron Ohio. Daughter of George and Margaret (nee Netzorg) Schubering. She graduated from Firestone High School. She had leading roles in most of the high school plays. After school, she also performed at the Firestone Theater in downtown Akron. After high school she attended Interlochen Summer Camp for the Performing Arts. Susan graduated from University of Denver and majored in Theater.

By the age of five, she knew that she wanted to be on the stage and that acting was her passion. Her first debut was on the “Deputy Don” children’s show which aired on WPBN in Traverse City Michigan. At the age of seven, Susan played opposite Pat O’Brian, in the “Loud Red Patrick” at the Cherry County Playhouse in Traverse City, Michigan.

After graduating from college, she was off to New York City. She spent the majority of her life in The Big Apple. During her theater career, she performed with many notable actors such as Buddy Ebsen, Tab Hunter, Imogene Coca, Kitty Carlisle, Cathy Rigby, Joe Namath, Rock Hudson, Eddie Bracken, Madeline Kahn, Hal Prince, Betty Comden, George Abbott, Adolf Green, Cy Colman, John Cullum, Kaye Ballard, and Georgia Engel. Along the way through life, Susan made many amazing friends giving her and her family memorable experiences which always included house seats and backstage tours for her family.

Susan was very spiritual and she was a devout Christian Scientist.

Loving mother of Madeline Elizabeth "Cat" Flynn (Jason Morris). Dear sister of Rebecca L. McNaughton (Jack), caring aunt of Sarah & Grant McNaughton, and great aunt of Remington McNaughton. Also survived by her furry companions Beau and Leo. A special "thank you" to Michela Abrams O’Connor, Diane Findley, Jan Newberger, Richard Sabellico, David & Paul Cohen, George Dvorsky and Lillian Colon.

Also survived by her former husband Thomas M. Flynn and his siblings, Regina H. Flynn, Ann Marie Flynn, Maryellen Coffey (Joseph), and his nieces Marielle, Caitlyn, and Jillian Coffey.

She was a wonderful, loving mother to Madeline for over 20 years. She taught her many lessons through the years always supporting her daughter’s art, music, writing, and other (sometimes crazy) Ideas or passions. She loved her unconditionally and perfectly.
