Thomas Gerald Burke, 56, beloved husband of Dawn Leatz-Burke, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019.
Thom was a man you enjoyed being around. He brought a smile to those around him with a joke, a quick wit, or just being friendly to a complete stranger.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 4, 1962 to the late James and Margaret Burke. Thom spent his childhood in Highland Park, Michigan before graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Royal Oak in 1981. He worked proudly for many years at American Axle before joining Midland Tool.
In his free time, Thom loved having a good time. He loved U of M football, and was a fan of the Lions, Tigers, and the Red Wings. He was always very outgoing, friendly, and absolutely loved to sing. Thom had a great voice and enjoyed singing anywhere at any time. He loved his many friendships he developed as a member of the Eagles in Clawson, Michigan. He always enjoyed the annual corn roast and helping others.
He will be greatly missed by not only his family, but many, many friends and colleagues as well.
Loving father of William Burke and Heather Denton. Proud grandfather of Shane Denton. Brother of Karen BurkeHanner (Brooke), Susan Wells (Ken), Nancy Landry (Rich), Dan Burke, and Chris Burke (Deb). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 11:00 AM until the time of memorial service at 1:00 PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers, & Connell Chapel) 32515 Woodward Ave (between 13-14 Mile).
