Obituary

Resident of Beverly Hills for 25 years

Graduate of the University of Detroit School of Engineering 1965

Bill was an Engineer for the automotive industry with 44 years experience in vehicle development, testing and correlation. He was active in program management, ride development, NVH on-road development, and among other things prototype builds.

At the time of his death, he was currently working on the Pogo Scooter.

An inventor and problem solver, Bill was often called upon by General Motors, Ford Motor and Altair Engineering to help trouble shoot.

Bill was a co-patent developer of integrated Manifold-Muffler-Catalyst design and had 7 years experience with exhaust development and exhaust pass-by noise levels.

In 1998 the test & development lab at Altair Engineering was named after him.

A huge race car & racing enthusiasts Bill was responsible for the orange Altair GranSport race car.

He was recognized in Car & Driver magazine for the 2001 Michelin Lap of American and won 1st place in the Vintage American Class. He was published on the front cover of Kit Car Illustrated.

Bill always had a “hankering” for the Grandsport Roadster like the ones owned by Roger Penske, and had a replica built.

Member of the National Corvette Restoration Club. Bill loved the Woodward Dream Cruise and also enjoyed mentoring young engineers.

Bill was also the owner of Fox Pointe Farms, an equestrian center he bought to help foster his daughter’s love of riding.

Father of Mary Beth Kiester (Michael), Julie Koerber (Ken) and Justin Adam. Grandfather of Gregory & Stephen Kiester and Calvin & Elizabeth Koerber. Brother of George (Joy) and Kathleen Spencer (John)

Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, Tuesday 5:00 – 9:00pm Rosary 6:00pm

Funeral Mass Wednesday 10:00am at St. Michael Church, 25225 Code Road, Southfield. Visitation begins at church at 9:30am
