Obituary

Zinon Vincent Zembrzuski, (BORN July 19, 1926, DIED November 24, Zinon peacefully entered into eternal life on November 24, 2019.

He is now together with his family including his parents (Ludwig and Josephine) and three brothers (Edmund, Louis, and Eugene) as well as many relatives and friends. Zinon was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 19, 1926; the son of Polish immigrants who lived in the city of Detroit. He was the brother of Edmund, Louis, Leonard, Eugene, and Angeline. For over 61 years, he was a Detroit resident and then lived his retirement years in Sterling Heights. To the people who knew him best, he was known as Zeno or Zeke. Zinon was a devoted and loving husband to Sophia for over 69 years of marriage. He was the dedicated father of: Michael, Susan Roginski (Edward, d), Dennis (Cynthia), and Lori Ann Urbaniak (Richard). Zeno enjoyed spending time with his 7 grandchildren: Stephanie (Dan) Dolan, Nicholas Zembrzuski, Edward Roginski, Michael Zembrzuski, Brett Roginski, Nicole Urbaniak, and Rachel Urbaniak. He especially loved playing with his two great grandchildren: Daniel and Wyatt.

At the age of 17, Zeno joined the navy to defend his country during World War II in the Philippine Islands. While in the Pacific, Zeno survived a suicide bomber attack into his Landing Craft Support ship. He took great pride in the fact that he served his country and always took time to speak with his fellow veterans. His work career included a laborer, City of Detroit bus driver, and chauffer for the Superintendent of Detroit Public Schools. Zeno devoted over 35 years of his working life, to the Detroit Public Schools, demonstrating his strong work ethic to support his family. His favorite thing to do was landscaping and work around his home.

Zeno was a devout Catholic serving the parishes of: St.Louis the King, St. Rene Goupil, and St. Jane Frances de Chantal and was an active member of the rosary group. He loved yoga and was always the first to set-up his class and welcome his fellow yoga group members. Zinon loved family celebrations being surrounded by his wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To all his nieces and nephews, he was affectionately known as "Uncle Zeno".

He will always be remembered with great fondness and love.

Welcome to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen Web Site Welcome to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, a ministry of the Capuchin Province of St Joseph. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, we tend to people’s basic needs, especially the need for food. We also stimulate minds, nourish spirits, and attempt to address root causes of social injustice. Founded in 1929 by Capuchin friars Solanus Casey and Herman Buss, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen serves the people of metro Detroit. We welcome you…whether you are a guest in need of a hand up, a volunteer willing to assist, or a donor willing to support. Welcome to our ministry.
